Alpana Server and Alpana Designer have been upgraded from 3.5.1.16 to 3.6.0.11
Alpana Update File Dependency has been upgraded from 1.2.0.1 to 1.2.1.3
Introduction
Version 2023R1 is a major release and includes new features and improvements and bugfixes.
The application is updated to the latest web technologies (.NET 6), with the latest security features and patches.
To operate Alpana server you will need to install .NET 6 Hosting Bundle and .NET Desktop Runtime. Please check Prerequisites chapter for more information.
Upgrade Instructions
To upgrade your installation, please see the generic upgrading chapter.
Don’t forget to instruct all your users to clear their browser cache or do a hard refresh.
Alpana Server
Installer
The installer will check prerequisites before installing Alpana, but you need to install .net core runtime 6 before starting it.
Main Highlights
New Connector: PostgreSQL connector
We can now use it as a connection in our visualizations.
System values
When designing our visual, we can now use application internal values such as current logged user, date, tenant name and server name as parameters to extend our contextualization capabilities.
Data sorting with selected first element
It is now possible to define the first element in date ordering to show content as closer as possible to your usual reprensentation.
As an example, you can display financial year chart.
Global Homepage
Alpana server users have a new permission called “ manage default tenant homepage “ in order to set a homepage as a global one for the concerned tenant.
PDF reorder
In Alpana designer, we added a reorder functionality to automatically regroup widgets that might be scattered in a waste canvas.
Email Restrictions to a domain
In Alpana Server, admins can restrict user creation for a given email domain.
Enhancements
Grid widget
Our grid chart has improved performance, and paginated grids now preserve existing functionalities of the grid.
Y axis autoscaling
We now have access to configure our autoscale property in order to customize the scaling.
Designer enhancements
We improved overall user experience and we particularly added a feature called “fixed cell size” in our designer layout configuration tab. This would let a designer customize its canvas cell size in pixels to adapt it to its monitor for given edge case resolutions.
Server elements modification time
Added “last modification time” metadata for published dashboards.
Data bufferization
Define whether we would like to bufferize our data no matter the connection type even if we are not in multi-source
Image widget linkToUrl
Our image widgets can also point out to an external resource such as a dashboard or website.
Widget publication
When publishing an individual widget, we can also apply a theme.
Data value thousands seperator
We can now customize our data value thousands seperator in our charts. For example, replacing “10,0” with “10’0”.
Datasource limit extension
Our limitations are now 100 datasources, 100 connections and 25 connections per datasource
Dashboard export API
Export dashboard content ( PDF, CSV or Image ) via API feature.
No data found message enhancement
We can now specify for a given widget if we prefer to display our chart’s header and empty space, to know exactly if we don’t receive data at all for the latter.
Custom query new mode
We can enable unsafe mode in order to extend query text
Solved Issues
- AL5-I45 – Date display bug (hover ) for Gantt Chart : our date format is now properly rendered.
- AL5-I46 – Alpana server installation : we fixed a restricted character when defining sql password on installation
- AL5-I47 – Bug for data filter : we can select a date interval even if it isn’t available in our data
- AL5-I48 – Gauge display : we corrected a rendering issue for this chart with maximum grid resolution
- AL5-I49 – Display issue with label: we corrected a syntax issue when switching between a previous alpana version
- AL5-I52 – Performance issues for Alpana dashboards: improvements on data loading and widget renderings were made
- AL5-I54 – Schedule- Internal server error when selecting “last day monthly” as time trigger: we can now select this option without the error.
- AL5-I55 – Animation repeating issue: our visualizations render correctly without this issue
- AL5-I56 – Runtime action button disappearing after scrolling: buttons now remain in place even if we scroll our runtime container on Alpana server.
Minor fixes have also been added throughout the product.
Known issue
- AL5-I51 – Dashboard launch from Microsoft edge sometimes isnt displayed due to insufficient privilege
- AL5-I57 – Pdf export broken visualization for tree layout and sparkline widgets if they are laid on at least 2 pages in pdf layout mode.
- AL5- I58 – Grid Filter – Datepicker grid filter date picker starting from current date
